Description:
Located on the abandoned Erie and Pittsburgh branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad, this short but intriguing trail runs through Pymatuning State Park, a two-state recreation area encompassing a 2,500- acre wildlife refuge around Pymatuning Reservoir. The beautiful trail, adjacent to Linesville Rd crosses the 1930 Pymatuning spillway, a popular scenic attraction where there are so many carp that it is known as the place where "ducks walk on fishes' backs." The area includes campgrounds, a fish hatchery and the Game Commission Wildlife Learning Center at the spillway. The spillway is a very popular (and busy) viewing area during peak waterfowl migration times.

Parking & Trail Access:
To the spillway trailhead: From I-79N, take exit 147B for US-322W/US-6W toward Conneaut Lake. Merge onto Conneaut Lake Rd/US-19/US-322/US-6 and continue to follow US-6 for just over 7 miles. Continue on PA-6/Water St. for another 6 miles and then turn left to stay on PA-6 as it turns left for half a mile to Linesville. Turn left on S. Mercer St. which turn into Linesville Rd and takes you directly onto the spillway after about a mile. Parking is available on spillway on your left and at other locations in the park.

Just an idea

Bicycle riders should consider dismounting and walking bikes through the Spillways area during peak times as this area can get crowded with pedestrians.
