Description:
The Sunrise Prairie Trail runs north and south along the abandoned Burlington Northern Rail Corridor. The Trail runs through residential and agricultural areas. Approaching Co. Road 17, you will encounter areas of hardwood forest and cross a variety of deep marsh wetlands. Sightings of grouse, white-tail deer, wild turkey and waterfowl are common. You may also see interesting desplays of native prairie and wild flowers along the trail. In the City of Stacy, the trail runs through Stacy Lions Park, with rest rooms a picnic area and playground. On the south edge of Stacy Lions Park, the trail crosses the west branch of the Sunries River. In Wyoming, the trail crosses the south branch of the Sunrise River. Washington County to our south has added 9 miles which they refer to as the Hardwood Creek Trail. This will take you south to Hugo.

Parking & Trail Access:
There are parking areas at North Branch, Stacy and Wyoming. No Fees The Parking areas are located just blocks east of the I-35 exit in each city.

Seasonal Restrictions:
Snowmobile not permitted on the pavement. Absolutly no studded machines permitted on the entire trail corridor.

Sunrise Prairie Trail

I live on this trail and use it every day in the summer time. We are in winter now and the snowmobile freakoids have taken over. Even though the rules say no studs and no use of the paved surfaces it is very obvious the trail is getting more and more gouged up every year. And a speed limit? What a joke! They go by my house at 80 MPH plus! I am going to rent a radar gun and record some speeds and turn the results over to the police. I hope we don't get any snow this year!
