Description:
Description below from Local Hikes Website credit Ben Randle :

A nice hike along the old MKT rail road bed. You can make this a short hike or a ca. 5 mile out and back depending on where you start. There are two trail heads to choose from. Along the way you will see common NE Oklahoma trees and cedars. And great views of the Lake and Osage Hills. Lots of bird activity to be seen as well. In the Fall, Winter, and Spring you can see numerous waterfowl and wintering bald eagles! There is a short spur you can visit on the north side of the trail where you can see an old road that once served Cleveland. It is now under water from the Keystone Lake. All the way to the end of the trail you can visit an old abandoned rail bridge. Walk it on your own risk. You don't have to worry about an on coming train but a false step could really injure a leg or toss you off into the lake. Sadly they never built the trail east into the old town of Osage. Maybe one day it will be completed.

Parking & Trail Access:
There are two trailheads both can be accessed from Hwy 64. The Center trail head can be reached by turning east off of the highway at the south end of the bridge that enters the south side of Cleveland. The rail trail runs under this bridge. The West trail head can be reached by turning south from Caddo/64 on the west edge of town. It's the last road going south on that side of the town. (Lat:36.30004 Lon:-96.46021)

Watch out for the bridge!
By Kay & Bill <>< on July 30, 2005
"July 7, 2005: Short but interesting. We started at the Cleveland Trailhead which gave us the best of the trail. First railroad bridge is paved with a railing on both sides. The second railroad bridge was another story and could have been fatal! It is the original bridge without the rails. You can ride on closely spaced ties without any railings. I went a little way out and decided it wasn't for me. Very difficult to stop and turn around as the front wheel can fall between the ties if you aren't careful - without railings this was frightening. My decision to turn back was wise because a locl told me later that people have been stealing ties from the Osage end of the bridge! I didn't actually see the missing ties and for that I'm thankful. It would have been a disaster to ride into an open section!
The trail was a nice short ride through varied landscape but don't cross the second bridge when you come to it!"
Nice View

This is a nice trail. Two side runs to the water. The first bridge was great but the second needs some work.
