Description:

The Tri-County Triangle Trail is a 52-mile rail-trail project that will eventually connect Washington Court House, Chillicothe, Frankfort and Greenfield, Ohio. Currently, about twenty-six non-continuous miles of trail completed. Completed sections include: * Chillicothe to SR 138 (approx 17 miles) * Robinson Road to Mills Road in Fayette County (approx 5 miles) * 3 miles through Washington Court House * 1 mile in Greenfield along Paint Creek In Frankfort there is an ice cream shop, restaurants and other stores along main street less than 2 blocks from the trail. Be sure to let the store owners know how much you enjoyed the trail. Tri-County Triangle Trail is a non-profit group that is working to complete this rail-trail project. Tri-County Triangle Trail was formed by a small group of people in the early 1990's who thought that constructing a recreational trail on abandoned railway right-of-way would be a great recreational and economic opportunity for the region. Since then, with the help of donations from companies, fund raisers and other funding sources, the group has been able to purchase over 26 miles of the proposed 52 mile trail. With the formation of the Ross County Park District the land in Ross County has been given to the park district. The Ross County Park District and the City of Washington have also been very active in development of the trail. Parking & Trail Access:

From US 35 exit to Frankfort (exit 87) go south towards Frankfort. Turn left at first stop sign onto High Street, then turn right on Main Street at the next stop sign. Continue South on Main to next stop sign and proceed straight ahead about .25 mile. Parking is on your left just before the bridge. You can access the trail from a parking area on S. Main Street in Frankort or a new access on Maple Grove Rd at the east end of the completed trail.

"You can see much of the diversity of southern Ohio on this nice, mostly flat trail. Watch out, though: The slightly uphill return trip to Frankfort can get ya!"
