Cross Country Skiing Trails
Year-round use on trails in California or Florida might be no problem. But in places where the weather is less accommodating to biking or walking in the winter months, cross-country skiing can be a fantastic way to use trails. Though some trail managers plow their trails in the winter, many do not, or those that do will leave some portion snow-covered for snow-sport uses.
Cross-country skiers often have the trail to themselves in the winter months, and the activity is less bound by surface-type than other trail uses. Be aware that some listed trailside amenities might be closed in off-season months. Because snowfall can vary widely, it's wise to check the trail's condition with the trail manager before you head out.
