Berkeley Springs Train Depot

Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park

Railroads

The red tiles of the station’s roof are characteristic of the Mission Revival architectural style.

Built in 1915 by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, this station was where passengers disembarked on their way to the town’s hot springs. It replaced a wooden structure that had served Berkeley Springs since the B&O’s arrival in 1888. The railroad suspended passenger service in 1935, and in recent years Berkeley Springs has been restoring the depot for use by the community, potentially as a welcome center or museum.
