Sunday I rode the Paulinskill Valley Trail (11-15/09), I started out in Blairstown, went through Hardwick Twp, and into Sussex County, New Jersey, a 26 mile round trip.
What a scenic trail, lots of old farmlands, horses everywhere on the trail, a Airport, and even a Lama farm.
I really liked this trail, it wasn't the usual fine groomed trail, in fact the first few miles was a singletrack trail cut in over time through the grass, it was more of a really riding through the woods feel to it.
Thank you to the previous poster on getting around the Airport I would have been lost.
I will definately be back to ride this trail again and again.

The week before we rode from Rockport to White haven and back, a 19 mile ride, the following week we rode fro Jim Thorpe to Rockport and back, a 26.7 mile ride, both rides are very scenic you have the River on one side, and numerous waterfalls on the other, the "uphill" grade is very minor, you can hardly notice it, though the trip back is easier!
This trail is greatly used, there are plenty of places to stop and take pictures, or rest at the picnic tables placed all along the trail.
This is by far my favorite trail so far out of the ones I have rode.
Check out my videos of the trail on Utube, search under Dirtrider6.

I just wanted to add, that out of the trails I have been riding, this was by far the most used, and popular trail.
There were people walking, jogging, biking, walking their dogs, I felt really safe riding this trail.

Today I rode the Greater Hazleton Rails to Trails, what a great scenic trail.
The first mile is hard packed with tiny rocks on the surface, making for a fast trail, after the road crossing it turns to a crushed red limestone surface, some of the rock is larger and definitely more bumpy, but not bad, then I ran into the Hazleton water shed, what a nice view, it was there that I met SCOOTER a very cute Jack Russell who has overcome a lot of adversity in her short life.
The trail turns back into the aforementioned hard pack for the remainder of the trail, where I almost ran over a snake sunning on the trail
It deadheads onto Beryllium road, a decaying old paved road, I rode that to the left for a few miles, then headed back.
All in all a 10.58 mile ride
Check out my videos on U-Tube (search Dirtrider 6) of the Rails to trails that I have been riding, I hope to hit up as many trails as I can before Winter.

I started out at Coopers Seafood Waterfront Restaurant to the right is a concrete paved pathway, that leads to a riverfront, a nice fishing area, and a sight of the bridges and mountains in the distance.
The actual trail is to the left, it is made up of pea sized crushed gravel, surprisingly if I stayed on the upper part it was well packed, but only about a foot wide, if you drifted off that, the surface sucked all your speed away.
Just before the 1 mile marker, there is a plaque and a picture dedicated to the Knox mine disaster. Just a little further down on the right is a cleared out grove with 3 grave markers, man I'm allways finding a cemetery on the trail!
The end came much to soon, the trail at this time is only 2 miles long (short), I tried going beyond the trail, but it was a muddy mess, I turned around went back to the starting point, and tried to take that further, I made it about a mile before that to became to hard to ride, it was all those track ballast stones.
Hopefully they will make this trail longer, for now it's to short for anything except maybe a ride with the kids.

I started off at the Garden Drive in, it's a closer point for me, plus the weather was a little iffy.
The trail was well groomed and reasonably flat, I spotted what looked like a old Train Station, very cool. The scenery of the mountains here is allways spectacular, it would really be nice in a few weeks when the leaves turn, I also found a realy small and really old Cemetary, one stone was from 1817!
Some of the trail goes through the small town of Shichshinny, I made it to my goal of the moconaqua bridge, from there I turned around and headed 8 miles back to the truck.
It was a good 16 mile ride, not bad for just starting to walk 3 weeks ago!

I just got on a bike after a long lay off (8 years) I had a accident earlier this Summer, broken Tibia Platoe and destroyed knee joint, so I chose a mountain bike and easy trails to try and get back in shape, and as therapy, just started walking 3 weeks ago.
The first trail I tried back mountain trail because it was close, nice packed surface, although from the Luzerne side it is a uphill grade.
About a mile in the bridge is out! very disappointing, I had to turn around and head back to the truck. Being that the shape my knee is in, I couldn't carry the bike down the side of the crick bed and up the other side. Anyway I just wanted to give everybody a heads up, they are working on it, there was equipment there.
