June 2011
I rode north from Peru to Rochester and back, a total of 40 miles. The trail itself is in excellent condition and well maintained. The only restroom is single port-o-pot at the north end. There are a couple of stores in Denver, about 6 miles north of Peru. There are no stores close to the end of the trail in Rochester. So pack what you need to take along.
About half the trail is shaded by trees.

September 2009. I rode the 18 miles from Xenia to South Charleston. A bit tricky finding the trail when you exit Xenia Station, signs do not mark it well. Once on the trail, you can not get lost. It is a very straight path, with a slight uphill most of the way.
The section from Xenia to Cedarville has a good amount of shade. From there to S. Charleston, is mainly open. The paved asphalt surface is in very good condition. Several restaurants and shops in Cedarville.
This is not as scenic as the Little Miami trail, but a nice ride.

September, 2009 - A great ride ! Rode the section from Morrow to Yellow Springs, heading mainly north. Overall the trail is in very good condition, paved asphalt, about 95 percent is in the shade. A generally slight uphill all the way, though nothing too strenuous. Nice restroom facilities in 4 spots along the way.
Morrow to Corbin - 14 miles, nice restaurant in Corbin
Corbin to Xenia - 14 miles, brings you to Xenia Station. You can choose several trails to branch off on here. A short distance in Xenia is on city streets. I continued north to Yellow Springs.
Xenia to Yellow Springs - 10 miles. A slightly steeper upgrade. Yellow Springs has many nice little shops and restaurants right along the trail.
I stayed in Xenia, at the Regency Motel, nothing fancy, but clean and fairly inexpensive. There a several nice B&B's in the area. There is a fully equipped bike shop in Xenia, just off the trail.
Definately would this this ride again.

Rode it on 7/3/09, Very nice ride, see other reviews of other sections of the Cardinal Greenway. As of this date, everything has been maintained very well. If you ride earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon, a good portion of the trail is shaded by trees along the side, which will provide some blocking of any wind.
If you ride a long wheel base recumbant, or a tandem, the gates blocking access at many of the road crossings are a real pain. You really have to slow down and watch what you are doing. but I suppose that is a good idea, so you don't accidedentally going zipping onto a busy road.
There are very few places to stop along the way to purchase supplies. The day I rode, the station in Muncie was closed. There is a gas station in Losantville, that was open, and lots of bikers using it.
