An 11 extension of the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail is planned that will connect Carlisle, PA and the Dickinson College Campus to Shippensburg, PA and Shippensburg State University. The existing trail currently ends at Newville, PA. The purchase of the electric utility corridor was successfully negotiated in Dec 2011 and is a first step of many toward developing a usable trail.
