Not the longest trail (about 6.5 miles) but a really enjoyable one. Starts in Starkey Wilderness Park, which is worth a visit on it's own. The trail runs from the park and eventually through some scrub. Watch for deer, fox squirrels and even alligators. At the end of the trail is a nice surprise...a new bathroom and water station (built in 2023). The trail ends at this station as it intersects with the Suncoast Trail. You'll be out in the sun for much of the ride, but the surface is smooth and the further you get from the park, the fewer people you will see.
We rode this trail for the first time today and enjoyed it. Not too many road crossings and a nice, wide paved trail. As others have mentioned, it's really a conglomeration of multiple shorter trails, but that works out fine. The best part is access to Anclote River Park, Anclote Gulf Park, and Key Vista Nature Park, all directly connected to the trail. It's not a terribly long trail, so you won't rack up a big mileage numbers, but each park is enjoyable, making it a very interesting ride.
3 star trail upgraded to 4 stars due to access to beaches via public access ways and state parks. Be sure to stop at Deer Lake State Park and walk your bike on the walkway through the dunes to the beach if it’s not too busy. Lots to see and enjoy, expect a rough trail through tourist beach towns with lots of bikes and pedestrians. North end trail is much smoother.
Easygoing, well traveled trail through beach cities with easy access to barrier Island causeways. Plenty of places to grab a meal near the trail. We tried and enjoyed Salty, Lime Cantina. Causeways provide stunning views of the harbor and were a highlight when we left the trail.
Me and my family drove an hour to get there for the bike trail. We parked by the dock parking which was beautiful to see. Lots of scenic views. When we start to ride the trail it took us out on the main road, about 2mins in the ride we end up on a road closer that we could not go around. That was the end of our ride.
We had a lovely afternoon biking this trail. It's flat except for the handful of times you go over a bridge to cross a busy road. We saw several gopher tortoises along the way, zero alligators so that was good. We rented our bikes from Legacy Bike rental which is adjacent to the trail. We were able to leave our car there which was nice.
Nice trail connecting 3 parks. One park has a nice fishing pier and another one has a beach. The beach park has big covered area with a bunch of picnic tables underneath. Nice ride through oak trees.
We ride from the bike trailhead inside the park to the Suncoast trail. It’s right around 6.5 miles each way. Nice and smooth trail with many people using the trail with different modalities. Spotty shade before noon, would be pretty much full sun midday.
We road from Maytown to Osteen grabbed some breakfast and headed back. (32 miles round trip) The trail is in perfect condition. No standing water. The weather could not have been any better. It was actually a little cool in the morning with the shade but warmed up on the way back with a perfect mix of sun and shade. We saw some large turkeys and a good size alligator on the side of the trail sunning.
Wife and I rode the entire trail. The trail seemed to have had the shoulders recently mowed but there was a lot of small limbs and large grass clumps on the trail from mowing discharge. The last 100 yards of the trail to the river is on a gravel drive. The point where the asphalt ends and this gravel drive needs a sign to tell you that you’re almost at the end. It’s very sketchy at the very end by the river. There were a few tables and shelter there. There were bumps in the asphalt from tree roots growing under the trail. It's great for inline skating. The track is interrupted by roads, but this is fine.
