Birdneck Road Trail Description

The Birdneck Road Trail is one in a series of suburban trails in the Virginia Beach area for non-motorized use. The trail runs parallel to its namesake road between Norfolk Avenue and General Booth Boulevard. The trail rambles past parks, golf courses, a school, tennis courts, and amusement park with go-carts, mini-golf and other activities.

Parking and Trail Access

Park at Seatack Park (on Birdneck Road just north of Carissa Court). You may also be able to park at the school or tennis center near the intersection of Birdneck Road and General Booth Boulevard (check local parking restrictions).

Birdneck Road Trail Reviews

This is a nice wide trail, many shady lengths. Plus it connects to General Booth and boardwalk if you want a longer ride. Yes you have to cross the Atlantic and Pacific to get to boardwalk but that did not dampen our enjoyment.

Well maintained trail

I cycle on this trail 2-3 times a week and the path itself is great; some of the other people who use it aren’t very courteous—they don’t share the path even though it’s a multi-use path—so if you’re cycling be mindful that you may have to go in the grass. My only complaint is the lights don’t come on in the darkest part of the path after dark. As to the complaint about road noise, well, it’s beside the road…Where there’s road noise. ¿¿¿¿¿

I walked this with my kids. It's a nice trail, most of it is right up against the woods and you can hear the crickets. There were other walkers, joggers, and bikers. But I found the traffic noise kind of a nuisance.
