Print Friendly MapThe Black Creek Nature Trail begins at the Davison Township Municipal Center and winds its way to the trail system in the City of Davison’s Jack Abernathy Regional Park. Travelers on the trail will enjoy the tree-lined, 1.6-mile route along the Black Creek to the 138-acre park.
The trail, which connects the township and city, is a significant part of the area’s efforts to encourage a healthy, active community. In 2011, the Davison Arch was erected where the township and city meet on the trail as a monument to this joint effort.
Parking for the Black Creek Nature Trail is available in Jack Abernathy Regional Park on Frank Boyce Parkway in the City of Davison. Additional parking can be found at a trailhead where the trail meets Gale Road in Davison Township.
I've drove past this trail several times and never even noticed ot! So when I saw it by accident I had to check it out! Nice walking trail. No complaints. Glad I found it!
I started with the Abernathy Trail and finished at the end of Black Creek. It was a great day for it. I will be definitely going again.
This is a very pretty trail. A short, paved trail that follows the creek. Many benches along the way and there are restrooms at the dog park.
Enjoyed the trail very much. It's a nice trail through a small little spot of nature. Nice for a quick little ride without having to pack a bunch of backup gear, since you're never to far away from whee you parked. Terrain isn't strenuous but the sights are nice next to Black Creek and there are plenty of spots to stop if you needed to take a rest. It's actually much longer in principle, as it "ends" just past Lake Callis in Abernathy Park, however the trails continue nearly to M-15 and a couple of paths sprout off of the main trail, some of which I haven't had the chance to travel down yet.
All the dog walkers I have come about have been extremely courteous with their dogs. They're attentive and quick to make sure their dog is on their side of the path. Walkers and runners have been more or less the same, a few walkers could have been more courteous and moved to the side as to not squeeze me off to the side, but the small amount of people like that are so few and far between that it hardly could wreck your time on the trail.
So if you live, or are visiting the area, definitely give the trail a go.
I moved to the Davison area a year ago and just found out about the trail. My son was visiting from California and found it walking from our residence. I have ridden the trail on two occasions since and I find it delightful. It is well maintained, has great scenery and it suited for old guys like me (75) as well as younger folks. I like the fact that the trail is available for multiple use. I've seen walkers, runners, roller bladers and yes, some folks walking dogs. But most folks observe trail etiquette. Perhaps the trail is a disappointment for those looking for a high speed trail, but it suits me just fine.
I have ridden this trail many times. It has the potential of being a very good bike trail, but residents have turned this beautiful trail into a dog run. It is almost impossible to have a pleasurable ride without having to ride off the trail to avoid someone's dog.
Though this trail is still being added to and improved, it remains one of the areas best kept secrets. Even though it is only 1.6 miles in length, it traverses through senic areas and has an abundance of bird and wildlife along it's course. It also connects to the existing park/trail system located within the boundries of the city of Davison increasing the total length to just over 4 miles. Along the way there are resting areas located at 1/4 mile intervals with proposed picnic areas, gazebos and a future dog park planned. This trail is shared by walkers, runners, in-line skaters and bycyclists and has ample parking at both ends of it. Whether to exercise or to help drop a few pounds come on out and enjoy a leisurely stroll on Davison's jewel, the Black Creek Nature Trail.
