Harry Cook Nature Trail Description

The Harry Cook Nature Trail runs for 2 miles from the edge of the small city of Osage, Iowa to the city's public Spring Park. The trail, which opened in the early 1990s, occupies the bed of an abandoned railroad corridor and winds through dense tree cover. For most of its route, the trail runs adjacent to Cedar River. Bring your fishing gear and good luck and you might catch walleye, channel catfish or smallmouth bass.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking can be found at Spring Park at the western end of the Harry Cook Nature Trail. The park has a large picnic area and bathrooms, as well as a primitive camping area.

This trail is great for small hikes/walks when you’re in a time crunch or just wanting to get out of the house for a couple hours! Follows the cedar river for a while and not far from town either.
