"I have ridden from Elkins to Parsons and back. It is about 50 some miles round trip. I met plenty of friendly people who walk, jog and bike along this trail and will allways say hello.
I recomend riding a three speed cruiser -- you will most likely be in second gear to Parsons. Coming back over the mountain you will need first.
The first leg of the trail passes by farms and small towns, but once you pass Montrose you will be secluded in a wooded mountain side. You will also pass by the Kingsford charcoal plant and the parsons depot. It is a great ride but you should plan on spending the whole day for it.
And oh yes, bring some cash to get an MTO or some ice cream at sheetz before heading back (you will need the energy)."
