The somewhat winding 3rd Street Trail parallels an irrigation ditch between Interstate 135 and Lorraine Avenue, making a link between disconnected 3rd Street via a non-motorzied route. Just under I-135 the trail links with the north–south running
Canal Hike and Bike Trail.
There is no official parking for the trail. Access is via 3rd Street at the western terminus or Lorraine Avenue on the east end.
