This is one section of a multi state hiking trail that crosses parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illionois and Michigan. In Pennsylvania, the trail extends 96 miles throughout the Allegheny National Forest through a variety of landscapes, including forest road. The northern portion of the trail parallels the Allegheny reservoir waters edge in some locations, and leads to hike-to or boat-to only camping areas. The trail is routed over several miles of old railroad grade on and off, approximately 9 miles total. In some locations, the trail is marked with blue blazes.
