The Bellingham segment of the Bay to Baker Trail runs 2.2 miles along an abandoned railroad right-of-way between Little Squalicum Beach and Cornwall Park. The trail is sand and gravel from Little Squalicum Park to the Northwest Avenue bridge over Squalicum Way; it's an on-road route between Northwest Avenue and Cornwall Park.
The Bay to Baker Trail will cover 74 miles when complete, running between Bellingham and the Mount Baker ski area. Another 7-mile segment between
Maple Falls and Glacier is complete. Another mile has been built south of Everson.
Parking for the trail is available at W. Illinois St. at Marine Dr. and at Bellingham Parks & Recreation (across Meridian St. from the trail). You can also park at Squalicum Creek Park (West St. at Squalicum Parkway; trail is at the far end of the park from the parking lot).
This trail is looking great so far. Wide open, fun, curvy trail that flows right into the bay from Cornwall Park.
