Parking & Trail Access:
To get to Bent Creek, take I-40 or I-240 west to I-26 east. Take exit 2 onto route 191 (this is the exit for Biltmore Square Mall). Turn south on 191 and go about 2 miles, past the mall and K-Mart plaza. Follow signs to Lake Powhatan and the N.C. Arboretum. At the traffic light, turn right onto Bent Creek Ranch Road; continue to follow signs to the lake and arboretum, taking a left at the Bent Creek Apartments.

You can park at the Arboretum; they encourage recreational folk to utilize their facility for parking while they enjoy the area (and their grounds are a wonderful place to explore if you have the time). If you prefer, there's parking further down the road, but on weekends and some evenings, it's tight.

Flat for 6 miles round trip
By John Young on August 09, 2006
"This is Asheville, NC and this ride is flat as a pancake. Right off of the Blue Ridge Parkway (~Mile Marker 395)6 miles of easy fun riding. Excellent for beginners and families of all ages. Start and park at the NC Arboretum travel 3 miles along Bent Creek and past Lake Powhataan. Turn around and travel 3 miles back. All in the woods on gravel logging roads developed by the CCC during the depression. Great Fun. Many side trails for the more adventurism"
