Description
The Big Pocono Trail is located in Big Pocono State Park, mainly a mountaintop park, which means much of the 8.5 miles of trails here have steep grades. Along with hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians are permitted on the South Trail and the North Trail Lower Loop only (and on all hard-surfaced roads within the park). Bikes are prohibited on the connecting trails from the parking lots, and both bikes and horses are prohibited on Indian and North trails.
The North Trail Lower Loop connects the lower end of South Trail back to the North Trail via a portion of the old railroad grade, which is mostly level.
Parking and Trail Access
The entrance to Big Pocono State Park is off PA Route 715 (Exit 299 on I-80 at Tannersville).
