Biscayne Trail Description

The Biscayne Trail begins at the southern terminus of the Old Cutler Trail, an 11-mile north-south route. From there, the Biscayne Trail runs through residential areas along SW 87th Avenue, but, as it continues south, you will enjoy lush, tree-lined scenery. Along the way, it runs adjacent to Centennial Middle School and Dr. Wingham Elementary School, providing an important and safe route for children.

The trail ends at the Black Point Park & Marina, providing convenient access to the sparkling waters of the Biscayne Bay and a large pavilion for picnicking. Near its southern tip, trail-goers can also continue their journey on Miami's Black Creek Trail.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the southern end of the trail at the Black Point Park & Marina (24775 SW 87 Avenue, Cutler Ridge).

Biscayne Trail Reviews

Relaxong Ride

Completed together with the Black Creek Trail. Very nice and relaxing ride.

short smooth family ride

This trail is short, smooth and great for walking, running, skating and riding. Making a loop from Biscayne National Park’s public parking lot to the Old Cutler Road trail to the Black Creek Trail is fun for the family. The loop is about 8 miles and can be a fun morning excursion for the whole family. One can add another mile by riding out to the point and getting that great picture to send to the family of the family. Good fun.

There's more to it.

This is one of our bike from home routes. The interesting thing is that you have the Biscayne Trail from Old Cutler down to Black Point on 87th Avenue. That's true and correct, but it's only the start. It then becomes a gravel, levy trail from Black Point all the way to Card Sound Road. That levy trail was designated the Biscayne Trail before the 87th Avenue section. You can opt to turn around at the entrance to Biscayne National Park or continue on down to Card Sound. I do not recommend riding on Card Sound Road, but you can turn back up the levy, or you can choose to ride up Tallahassee Road which is dirt road down there and goes back up to the motor speedway but you are no longer on Biscayne trail then. We rode these routes for decades before it was ever a designated trail. Great in the winter months for bird watching and spotting crocs and gators. There are often also manatees in the cross canals near the water gates.

Good for warmups

Just a short trail that connects old cutler road to black point marina and the black creek trail. One straight line, not too many roots on the pavement since it runs alongside a canal. Wide street so good for cyclists that wish to use it.
