Description:
The Chesapeake Beach Rail-Trail utilizes the Chesapeake Beach Railroad route built in the 1890s from Washington, DC to the resort town of Chesapeake Beach, MD. When complete, it will stretch nearly 40 miles across three counties (Prince George's, Anne Arundel and Calvert), connecting the nation's capital to the nation's largest estuary, the Chesapeake Bay.

Currently, a few short sections of the trail are open to the public near the following landmarks:

  • Marvin Gaye Park (Washington, DC)
  • Addison Road Metro Station (Seat Pleasant, MD)
  • Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum (Chesapeake Beach, MD)

Those who enjoy railway history will want to stop at the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum at the trail's southern terminus. The museum is the last remaining rail depot of the railway on its original site. The railway's last known passenger railcar also sits behind the building.
