The Clive Greenbelt Trail meanders along the northern bank of Walnut Creek through the Des Moines suburbs of Windsor Heights and Clive. Because of the many twists and turns on the high-traffic trail, cyclists should watch out for runners and pedestrians by reducing their speed and taking it easy on the corners.
The trail follows a wooded corridor, which offers shade in summer and lovely colors in autumn. At its western end, the Clive Greenbelt links up with the
Raccoon River Valley Trail at the intersection of US 6 (Hickman Road) and NW 156th Street and also farther east along US 6 just east of Woodlands Parkway.
The Eastern trailhead is located adjacent to the Walmart parking lot located on 73rd St. in Windsor Heights. There are also access points located off 86th and 104th Streets in Clive.
There are no trail or parking fees.
