Dry Creek Greenway Reviews

Could use better marking

Got off track several times. Poorly marked in areas. Well maintained

Worth doing

I did this trail on a longboard. I am coming from Colorado and was not aware of the extensive trail system in Cheyenne and TrailLink is not up to date on all the trails. If I would have known I would have added Sun Valley onto my skate. I started where Dry Cr. and the Sun Valley trails converge. I ended the skate at Buffalo Ave. and Creighton St. a mile past I-25, approx. 8 miles, and approx. 550 ft. of elevation gain, 16 miles round trip. On the way back I was glad there was a tail wind because I did not break 13 MPH. Granted I was carving almost the whole way back which sheds a lot of speed but if there was no wind it would have been a really slow ride back. Not a lot of trees on this path so mid summer would be really hot. There's also not a lot of curves on this path, lots of long straight section. It wasn't the most exciting trail but I had a lot of fun. I plan on coming back and do this trail again and some of the others in Cheyenne.

Greenways Connected 2015

Cheyenne has recently expanded their trail network so that now you can ride 11 miles uninterrupted from I-25 near Western Hills Blvd to Holliday Park near downtown. This connects the Dry Creek and East Cheyenne greenways, and adds the new Sun Valley greenway in the south. We parked at Cahill Park off Dell Range Blvd and headed west on the Dry Creek trail all the way to the end at I-25. The trail is concrete with some moderate ups and downs, running between the airport and the back of businesses on Dell Range. After returning to Cahill, we went east on the Dry Creek, on the new Taft Rd connector, on the East Cheyenne greenway, on the new Sun Valley greenway which runs along the railroad, and ends at Logan Ave. There also is a short connector that takes you to Holliday Park. These are all connected now to form the Cheyenne Greenways with signs along the way. They are also concrete with some moderate hills. A nice few hours in Cheyenne. See my pics with sights and tips along the way.
