Print Friendly MapThe Erie Attica Trail lies in the Finger Lakes region of New York along the former railroad for which it's named. A glimpse of this past can be seen in the beautiful truss bridge that spans 220 feet across the Genesee River.
The wooded rail-trail begins on the west end of Avon and continues west just over a mile to the Genesee Valley Greenway, which heads all the way north to Rochester. One day, the rail-trail will extend a bit farther west to River Road.
The trail's parking area, which accommodates horse trailers, is on the east side of Farmers Road.
This trail is great for equestrian use. It has ample parking for multiple trailers. The footing is excellent - though the bridge can be a little slippery when wet. Terrain is almost completely level and in most places line of sight is very good. There is not much traffic on it. Leads to a beautiful, little used section of the Genesee Valley Greenway.
Super place for a ride!
I have enjoyed the trail very much peaceful and plenty of wildlife. What I do not like are the dog owners disobeying the KEEP DOGS ON SHORT LEASH rule on the signs. It is clearly seen 4 times in the 1.3 miles of trail. Most of the dogs come back to their owners but I do not like unfamiliar dogs running up on me. Im not a dog person to begin with, so I am on edge when one runs up to me, but can people be respectful of others. I have had to start carrying mace and had to use it twice. Both times the dogs were at least 1/4 of a mile from their owner as the dogs ran back like they were set on fire to the owner after it happened. Yes you are out in the middle of no where but that doesn't give you the right to let your dogs run loose. If you want them to run loose go to a dog park.....
Very peaceful here in August bring bug spray. Also ticks were spotted on the trail so prepare for that also. Great views and as you all know many long green tunnels. Intersects the Greenway Trail.
