Description:
The Franconia Notch State Park Recreation Trail provides easy non-motorized access to some of New Hampshire's and the east coast's most dramatic mountain scenery. The 8.8 mile multi-purpose paved trail runs through the heart of the Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire's most heavily-visited state park and the western gateway to the jagged peaks and valleys of the White Mountains.

The trail enables walkers, hikers, cyclists, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers to experience up-close all of the park's renowned natural landmarks including the Old Man of the Mountain" -- the "Great Stone Face" immortalized by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Daniel Webster and the state of New Hampshire's most famous symbol. Other park features located along the trail include the Flume Gorge, Cannon Mountain Ski Area, Lafayette Place Campground, the Basin, Profile Lake and Echo Lake.

Finally, the Franconia Notch State Park Recreation Trail is part of the state-designated Heritage Trail, a 230-mile north-south trail, linking communities to tell the story of New Hampshire's history, natural resources, culture and economy.
