The Galloping Goose Trail is so called for the nickname of the old railroad that once ran through the area and upon which the trail sits. As of 2012, about 0.5 mile of trail have been built northeast of the little community of Rippey. One day the trail will run for 9 miles southeast to the larger town of Perry. Along with the neighboring
Raccoon River Valley Trail system, the Galloping Goose Trail will form part of a splendid network of Iowa trails.
There is no official parking for this trail. On-street parking is available in Rippey.
