Description:
The High Bluffs Coastal Trail in Tate's Hell State Forest meanders through Florida scrub landscapes, where rosemary and scrub mint grow under a canopy of sand pines. Like all trails in Florida, be prepared to get your feet wet, mostly at each end of the trail and near cypress domes. It's also sandy. The trail climbs an ancient dune that overlooks St. George Sound.

This is prime Florida black bear habitat, so don't be alarmed if you're lucky enough to spot one of the shy creatures; just give them space. More than likely you will see their droppings on the trail. Other wildlife you might see include white-tailed deer, barred owls, wild turkeys, bald eagles, red-cockaded woodpeckers and gopher tortoises.
