Description Suggest an Edit

The Alabama Department of Transportation used Transportation Enhancements funds (see for more on Transportation Enhancements funding) to construct a rail-trail in Dora, Alabama. This project consists of 2.2 miles of a 12-foot wide asphalt trail, one mile of an unpaved nature trail, five covered rest areas, fencing and landscaping.

The Horse Creek Trail was constructed along an old railroad bed and runs from T. S. Boyd School to U.S. Highway 78 at the Horse Creek Golf Course. The trail is used daily by people who drive from miles around to simply enjoy a peaceful walk.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at T.S. Boyd Elementary School, 23 Austin Circle Drive and near the Horse Creek Golf Course, 1745 Hwy 78 (off of Corridor X). Parking is also available near the intersection of Bryan Cutoff Road and Crest Drive and where Sellars Road crosses the trail.

Pleasant ride thru the rolling hills of the countryside. Easy access to Dora from new Interstate 22. Poor signage to trailhead, had to ask locals for directions. Short ride that ends too soon, has the potential to be extended. read more
