Iron Ore Trail Description

The Iron Trail follows an old railroad corridor for 15 miles between the towns of Tower and Embarrass in northern Minnesota's Boundary Waters region. The trail traverses a mix of boreal forest and open spaces through a landscape of wetlands, bogs and ponds. The trail is primarily used by snowmobilers.

Parking and Trail Access

Access and parking are available in Tower off Junction Road just southeast of Main Street. You can also access the trail in Embarrass at County Highway 21 and Waisanen Road.
