Description:
The Jamestown Connector Trail, currently 7.7 miles long, will soon connect all the way to Xenia Station and the network of trails that meet there. Xenia is the hub of Green Counties trail system where you can head north or south on the Little Miami Scenic Trail, northwest to Dayton on the Creekside Trail, or northeast to London on the Prairie Grass Trail.
The Jamestown Connector will eventually connect Jamestown to the Washington Court House and the Tri-County Triangle Trail. The trail is relatively new and offers a beautifully maintained asphalt surface suitable for all uses except horses and motorized vehicles.

***UPDATE***
An aditional 4.3 miles has been paved from Jamestown East to the Fayette County line near Rosemoore Road. This makes for 12 miles of completed trail!!

The trail starts in Jamestown on South Limestone Street where a small parking lot offers a place to leave a car. There are more amenities quickly available along the trail. Just a half mile into the ride a wooden bridge off the right side of the trail leads to Jordan's Supervalu Grocery, which offers beverages, food, and restroom facilities. Another trailhead on the left of the trail just 1 mile from the start is at Frank Seaman Park. This park makes for a better starting point than the small parking lot at the beginning of the trail because it offers restrooms and water along with parking facilities. In addition, it has numerous baseball fields, a covered pavilion and picnic area, as well as ample green space to either warm up for your ride or unwind afterward.
Moving west again down the trail brings you to the crosswalk taking you across Quarry Road and officially out of town and into the countryside. The corridor is amazingly well shaded by a thick canopy of deciduous trees. The periodic breaks in the trees over the next 2 miles allow you to get a peek of the vast farm fields that dominate this part of central Ohio. At mile 3.8 the Ballard Road crossing marks the approximate halfway point of the trail.
Just past mile 4 the trail crosses South New Jasper Station Road, and less than a half mile past this crossing it comes to the bridge crossing the North Fork of Caesar's Creek. The bridge is a nicely built concrete deck and the view both up and down creek of the meandering waterway and lush vegetation clinging to its banks is well worth a stop.
The remaining 3 miles or so offer a smooth quick ride through more farm fields and forested canopy. Keep an eye out for South Monroe Siding Road, a half mile from the end of the trail. Just past it on the right is Skydive Greene County, which offers skydiving opportunities; on a nice day it is common to see airplanes taking off and landing. Don't forget to look up as the planes landing will have most likely just had a group of parachutists jump out of them!
The trail ends at Jasper Road, which doesn't have trailhead facilities available. The corridor heading toward Xenia is clearly visible on the other side of the road promising the much-anticipated link to the Xenia Station Trail hub.

August 2011 trail review Jamestown Connector
By heverly in August, 2011
Having ridden this trail in mid-August, I'd like to share a few comments.

Tanger Outlets ( formally Prime Outlets ) in Jeffersonville Ohio is about 3 miles from the eastern most end of the trail. As that end is closest to my house, I dropped off the wife and kids for a few hours of shopping and headed to the path.

I parked beside the trail where it crosses Rosemoor Road at the eastern end. I'd estimate there is room directly beside the path for 5 vehicles at least.

The trail is flat and runs thru mostly rural areas. At Jamestown it transitions’ to city streets for about 2 blocks; it’s a strait shot so you can't get lost. The trail was lightly used; I saw perhaps 12 folks in addition to myself each time.

The trail is majority shaded; in fact I wore clear eye protection for the entire trail on a bright sunny day. I was treated to an unexpected show when riding by a small airport. I looked up to see 3 or four parachutists in the sky manipulating their chutes to land on the runway.

Compared to other Ohio trails I've experienced this trail was noticeably covered with numerous small broken branches ( sticks ) and more than the usual small rocks on the sections that had full tree cover. A few leaves and walnuts are expected this time of year of course, but the many sticks required a bit of caution to negotiate safely.

At the western most end, the trail ends abruptly at Route 35; that section appears to be new as the asphalt is very black. Just before that end, as the path crosses S. Beckett Road, there is signage indicating a street route to ... presumably ... where the path picks back up on the opposite side of Route 35 and on to Xenia Station.

My wife had a great time shopping with a local friend, the kids got some school clothes, and I had a pleasant ride in beautiful country. All and all, a wonderful day for all.
