Description
Joe's Trail at Saratoga de Anza parallels the south side of the active railroad tracks that travel through a residential area of Saratoga, a California community just south of the San Francisco Bay. The trail is part of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trial, which commemorates the 1775-1776 Spanish Expedition and stretches more than 1,200 miles from San Francisco to Nogales, Arizona.
Joe's Trail has a decomposed granite surface and crosses two bridges over the Saratoga and Rodeo Creeks. The bridges are currently under construction, scheduled for completion in September of 2012.
Parking and Trail Access
Parking can be found in Congress Springs Park (12970 Glen Brae Drive) on the other side of the railroad track near the trail's southern end. At the north end of the trail, there's a trailhead at Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, south of Sea Gull Way near the Azule Crossing Shopping Center.
