Left Hand Greenway Description

The Left Hand Greenway is a diagonal path along its namesake creek in southern Longmont. It begins at a juncture with the St. Vrain Greenway, a scenic 8-mile route across the city. From there, you'll head southwest past the Harvest Junction Shopping Center, then through open rural countryside to the Longmont-to-Boulder Regional Trail, which continues to the nearby college town. The trail is generally flat with short stretches of moderate grade.

Short spurs will take you to the Longmont Recreation Center, as well as the Longmont Museum & Cultural Center (both are located on Quail Road). After crossing Main Street (US 287), the views become more residential. You'll pass Kanemoto Park with its pagoda-like Tower of Compassion, where you'll also find play areas, picnic spots and restrooms. Farther along, Left Hand Creek Park offers basketball and volleyball courts, a playground, picnic shelters and climbable sculptures.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at several points along the way:

- Harvest Junction Shopping Center (Emery Street and Ken Pratt Boulevard)
- Longmont Recreation Center (310 Quail Road)
- Longmont Museum & Cultural Center (400 Quail Road)
- Kanemoto Park (off S. Pratt Parkway)
- Left Hand Creek Park (off Creekside Drive)

Left Hand Greenway Reviews

Some cool art

I do this trail on a longboard. I've done this trail often and I always add miles to it since it is so short. Most of the Longmont trails are all pretty close to each other so you can do multiple variations that incorporate the Left hand Greenway. Sticking with the Left Hand Greenway you will come across some cool art and pretty scenery. As with all the bike paths in Longmont you'll want to start at the East end on a windy day because you're going to want a tail wind for the return trip back. One of the things I really like about this trail are the giant ants, very cool.

21 Mile Loop

By combining the Lefthand and St Vrain trails in both directions, you can make a 21 mile loop that goes through neighborhoods, parks and open spaces. Great day on the trails!
