McCoy Park to Mill Creek Park Connecting Trail Description

Although short, this paved half-mile trail provides connections to three parks, as well as a unique attraction in northern Independence. On the northern end of the trail sits Mill Creek Park, which has sports facilities, playgrounds, and picnic areas to enjoy.

From there, the tree-lined route heads south to Slover Memorial Park. Cross the park traveling northeast and you'll reach the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum, where you can see photographs, film clips, and artifacts about the president’s life. You can even visit an Oval Office replica.

From the park, continue south on the sidewalk paralleling North Delaware Street, which heads under US Highway 24. Shortly, you'll arrive at McCoy Park, named after the city's first mayor. This popular outdoor spot features a sprayground, athletic fields, playgrounds, picnic tables, and grills.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available in Mill Creek Park (1717 N. River Boulevard) at the north end of the trail, and at McCoy Park (800 N. Bess Truman Parkway) on the southern end of the trail.
