Description:
The 1.5-mile Monticello Bike Trail runs north-south through the heart of Monticello itself. The trail replaced a long abandoned rail corridor that once ran between Chicago and Tampa. Portions of this abandoned route farther south also spawned other Florida rail trails: the Nature Coast State Trail and the Withlacoochee State Trail.

The Monticello Bike Trail meanders through neighborhoods and old warehouse areas, relicts from earlier days when the corridor was used as a railroad. The trail does have several street crossings, and though not much traffic abounds, use caution.
