With the completion of a new bike/pedestrian bridge over Interstate 80, this bike trail provides a long-awaited connection from North Natomas to the
American River Bike Trail, South Natomas, and downtown. It allows commuters and recreational trail enthusiasts to utilize active transportation to travel to downtown Sacramento. There is a potentially troublesome crossing at San Juan Rd, as the bike path is interrupted by a major road which does not feature a crosswalk. There is also a small gap at Natomas Oaks Park with a connector trail to Discovery Park starting on the river side of Garden Highway just after the park.
