Newport and Shermans Valley Railroad Trace (formerely Little Buffalo) Description

Included in the seven-mile network of trails in Little Buffalo State Park are two small sections of rail-trail. Together they are called the Newport and Sherman's Valley Railroad Trace.
The rail-trail sections are signed with directional arrows rather than name signs.
Highlights alongside the trace in the East Day Use Area include a covered bridge over Furnace Run, Shoaff's Grist Mill, and an original rail car, Way Car No. 12.

Parking and Trail Access

From PA Route 34 exit west between New Bloomfield and Newport. Once in Little Buffalo State Park, follow the signs for Shoaff's Mill Parking. The rail-trail can also be accessed at the Main Picnicking Area of Little Buffalo State Park.
