Ocean City Bike Path Description

Ocean City Bike Path offers a short, paved route through the center of Ocean City and allows visitors a glimpse into the history of this interesting seaside town.

The trail parallels Haven Avenue and, north of its end at 25th Street, bicyclists can continue their journey on a designated on-road route up to E. 9th Street.

Parking and Trail Access

Take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 29, then Route 9 north to County Route 52 to Ocean City. Once in Ocean City, take the fifth right onto Haven Avenue and park near the Transportation Center. The trail heads south from here along Haven Avenue.

Ocean City Bike Path Reviews

Did not like sharing the road. Ft I could of had the same ride in any shore community. There was nothing special.

Part of a long bike route

Part of the trail runs along a nature reserve, so there's plenty of nice views. The rest is a fairly protected bike route in a calm section of town. I've done this section as part of a larger bike ride extending from Somers Point across the 9th street bridge and then down Haven Ave. all the way to 56th street and Haven and then back to Somers Point.

This is a short sweet ride but could be much, much more. I did four trails in one day and I was some what taken back when on my ride down to Corson's Inlet tail I found that to the south of where this trail end there are still rail and ties in place and you could build a trail all the way down to the inlet. Ocean City clams to be a Family Resort, this trail could really be a five star trail.

Ocean City has expanded their bike route!

The trail mentioned has been expanded. On May 23rd, the Haven Avenue Bike Route was dedicated. This route runs from 9th Street (RT 52) to 34th Street. Most is a "share the road" route, although there are sections of "separated bike lanes" as well. One section - from 25th to 29th St - runs along the Stainton Wildlife Refuge offering water views with Osprey, swan, ducks, and alot of other birds and wildlife.
Traffic calming efforts were implemented to reduce auto use, and every intersection is now a 4 way stop.
The city has additional "phases" planned to extend this route and offer connections to the beach, boardwalk, downtown, etc. The timing of this is awesome, as the new Rt 52 Causeway bridge comes right to 9th & Haven, and will have a 12 foot dedicated bike lane which connects to the Atlantic County bike path on the other side of the bridge. So, when complete there will be a contiguous path from Mays Landing to Ocean City!
