Description Suggest an Edit

The Ruth Bascom Riverbank Trail System (or Path System) is a collection of interconnected trails lining the Willamette River in Eugene. The trails run on both sides of the river, weaving through parks, open space, industrial areas and residential neighborhoods.

The system consists of 4 main trails (North Bank Trail, South Bank Trail, East Bank Trail and West Bank Trail), as well as a number of local connecting paths. Five bike/ped bridges allow for scenic loops of a variety of distances.

The trail system is named after Ruth Bascom, the first female mayor of Eugene and a tireless advocate for biking and walking.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Trail System can be found at the Valley River Center on Valley River Drive. Additional parking is available at a small parking lot at the end of Fir Lane, at Owens Rose Garden on N. Jefferson Street, at RiverPlay Discovery Village Playground and Skinner Butte Park on Cheshire Avenue, at Island Park on S. Mill Street and at a small lot off Walnut Road/W. D Street.

Eugene loves its bike trails, and the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Trail System reflects this both by the obvious commitment to design of the trail itself and the number of people that turn out to use it. It's a sinuous trail, with gently rolling inclines, broad more
