Description:
The Sergeant Road Trail is part of the Cedar Valley Lakes Trail system in Cedar Falls/Waterloo. The trail parallels Highway 63 from Waterloo to Hudson through rural and park areas. The railroad was originally constructed by the Wisconsin, Iowa & Nebraska Railway (The Diagonal) to Cedar Falls Junction in 1883 and north to Cedar Falls and Waterloo in 1884. The first mile of the Cedar Prairie Trail, which follows the grade of the CGW Cedar Falls Branch through the Blackhawk Creek Greenbelt, connects to the Sergeant Road Trail at Cedar Falls Junction.
