The path passes the Barre City Elementary and Middle School, which is the location of the only on-trail parking. It is part of a planned trail network called the Central Vermont Path, which will one day connect Barre, East Barre, Upper Westerville, upper Graniteville and Montpellier.

South Barre Bike Path Reviews

Short But Interesting

I normally ride my bike, but I was out of town and had some time so I tried jogging this short trail. I parked on the street at the north end and ran to the end and back in about 25 minutes. The trail hugs the side of the hill for its entire length offering a view of the Stevens Branch of the Winooski River for the last quarter mile. When the leaves are off the trees, the user will be treated to a view of the valley below. There are no bridges, only culverts. The pavement is in good shape with one short exception, where it looks like a storm may have caused some erosion. For pet owners, there is a short connecting trail that leads to a dog park. I gave it three stars primarliy due to he short lenght of the trail.
