Description:
The Squires Lake Trail offers a short, but scenic, route along a former railroad grade about 13 miles south of Bellingham, the largest city in Whatcom County. The surface is dirt and gravel, but the trail is well maintained and well marked. And, although it's just a few minutes from Interstate 5, the dense tree cover offers a quiet peacefulness that you might not expect from such close proximately to a major roadway.

The hike involves a few short switchbacks, but you'll be rewarded with a beautiful view of the lake at the end of your journey and benches along the trail offer places to rest. To further explore the area, you can continue on the Squires Lake Loop for just shy of a mile. Other trails through the park also offer outstanding vistas, but are more challenging.
