The St. Joseph River Greenway begins on the southern outskirts of the small town of St. Joe, not far from the Indiana–Ohio border. The short paved trail (just over 1 mile long) runs through a scenic wooded and rural landscape along its eponymous river. The Civil War monument in the cemetery adjacent to the northern end of the trail is well worth a visit.
Parking is available at Riverdale Elementary School (6127 State Route 1) at the northern end of the trail.
There's lots of shade on this one, with statues lining the entrance to the trail and the Joseph River is always in sight.
The trail itself has a lot tight twists and turns early on before straightening out and the pavement is pretty rough, with bumps and cracks throughout.
I would only recommend this one to locals, and maybe only walk it.
Well taken care of with multiple resting stops. Beautiful riverside views for all ages
Very well kept concrete walkway that winds along the bank of the river with some parts totally shaded and other parts edged by cornfields and in full sun. Bring the bug spray. Numerous benches along the 1 mile route for sitting and watching the river go by.
