Trap Pond State Park Trail

Trail Map

Description Suggest an Edit

Very nice multi use trail system in an underused & understaffed State Park. Five mile loop around Trap Pond is accomplished by following the Loblolly & American Holly trails. Plenty of other side trails & Park Roads give the user plenty of options. Follow the signs or get a trail map; not all trails open to bikes & horses but there is a good size field near the disc golf course open to horseback riding. There aren't a lot of other trails/parks in this area, so this park is a real gem. Boat launch on pond; canoe & kayak rentals are available. Park staff is very limited, particularly during the week & in the off season, so you should download a map before you go. There is a camp store in the camping area w/has some literature when it is open.

Parking and Trail Access

From the intersection of US RT 13 & DE RT 24 in Laurel DE: take RT 24 east, turn right on Trap Pond Rd & Proceed @ 1 MI. Park is on the left, drive past the boat launch & the pond to reach the main entrance, large parking area w/trail access.

Shady Trap Pond Trail is sweet!

The bike trail at Trap Pond is shaded almost the entire length, which makes it very inviting on a hot day! It winds around the pond, over some wetland areas, almost entirely through dense woods. Very pleasant! read more
