Description Suggest an Edit

The Upper Charles Rail Trail will one day span 20 miles, connecting the communities of Milford, Ashland, Hopkinton, Sherborn, and Holliston along a former CSX rail bed. The trail is being developed in sections over two countiesMiddlesex and Worcesterand will have a stone dust surface.

About 5 miles of continuous, usable trail stretches from South Street in Braggville to downtown Holliston. This segment is bookended by stretches of improved trail surfaced in stone dust. In between them—from Hopping Brook Road to Cross Street—the trail is unimproved, but passable for walking and mountain biking.

Southwest of Holliston, another 5 miles of trail are open in Milford in two disconnected segments. The longer section stretches from the town center north to the Hopkinton town line. A highlight of this route is the trip through Louisa Lake Park.

North of Holliston, the corridor is single track all the way to the Town of Sherborn with an unimproved coarse gravel/ballast surface that is not suitable for use except for walking or rugged mountain biking.
