Valley Line Trail Description

Just 1 mile long, the Valley Line Trail—also known as the Sauganash Trail—extends between Bryn Mawr Avenue and Devon Avenue in the Chicago neighborhood of Sauganash. Two bridges allow for safe crossings of busy roads. The trail, which occupies a former freight railroad corridor, also skirts the eastern edge of Sauganash Park, where you'll find parking and restrooms.

Although the Valley Line Trail is currently short, plans call for it to eventually be extended north through Lincolnwood to meet the Skokie Valley Trail, which is in the process of being extended within the community of Skokie.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the Valley Line Trail is available at Sauganash Park off N. Rogers Avenue.

Valley Line Trail Reviews

Great for kids!

This is a great trail for kids. My son and I went rollerblading. The trail is flat, so no big hills to manage. We had an awesome time!

Walking on Valley Line Trail

Great trail to walk on once my bicycle is repaired I will be riding this trail all the way up to Skokie , nice that Sauganash Park is by the trail for use of the drinking fountain or restrooms.

Love it!

Great place to let the kids ride their bikes and roller blade. Playground, basket ball, tennis and field house just off the trail. Quiet and beautiful.

nice trail along Sauganash park

Runs from Devon/Kostner to Bryn Mawr/Kosner with 4 or 5 access points inbetween...easy parking and access to bike paths...

Short, sweet, and convenient

A trail opened only a few years ago, and will soon be expanded both north and south. The expansion will be along an abandoned railroad line, the "Weber Spur".

South, it will go to a city bike lane on Elston Avenue. North, it may eventually go all the way to the North Channel Trail.

Neighborhood Valley Line Trail

Short, but within the city. Recently dedicated, this trail runs on an abandoned railway. It goes alongside of Sauganash Park, where there is parking and restrooms. There's room for cyclists as well as joggers, strollers, and baby carriages too.

Exit by Rogers Avenue, near Sauganash Park, and Starbucks coffee is only a short distance north of there.

Quiet neighborhood, good for a morning run or ride.
