The Hamilton Carr Trail begins off Woods Road in Rockwoods Reservation, a state forest and wildlife conservation area that offers hiking trails, picnic areas, caves and interesting rock formations. The trail continues south along Highway 109, past La Salle Institute. After passing the campus, the trail enters a wooded area on its way to the shores of the Meramec River. At its southern end, the pathway connects with the
Meramec Greenway Trail, taking travelers east through several parks.
A parking lot is available off Grand Avenue at the southern end of the trail.
