Description:
From www.steamboatsprings.net/recreation/open_space/open_space.htm: This seven mile, multi-use trail follows the meandering Yampa River from Walton Creek Road and Highway 40 to the James Brown Bridge on Shield Drive. Groves of cottonwood trees, excellent fishing, scenic overlook benches and lovely picnic spots make this trail a great place for a leisurely stroll or a commuter route through town.

Yampa River & Walton Creek Trails
By twirlymaker on August 10, 2008
Started this trail at its current west end with parking and facilities. It is also the turn around point for the free bus shuttle at N40.49358 W106.85055 elev 6719’. This trail has the most activities packed into 7 miles I have experienced. The Howelsen Hill, Winter and Green Summer Ski Jump and Gondola, Botanic Park, Fly Fishing, Art Depot, Sculptures, Rodeo Grounds, Sport Field Complex, Old Town Dining, Quiet natural areas, and much more. The trail surface is in excellent condition. It joins the Walton Creek Trail and ends at N40.44483 W106.81304 elev 6803’. By Noel Keller 6 Aug 08
