    The 5-mile Hay Creek Trail forms a loop route, with a couple internal spurs for a shorter jaunt, in the northeast section of Bismarck. The trail links neighborhoods and green spaces and also provides access to cultural and recreational facilities, including the performing arts park at Sleepy Hollow Park, the fishing pond at the North Dakota Game & Fish Department, the Pebble Creek Golf Course and the Burleigh County Fairgrounds.

  • Missouri Valley Millennium Legacy Trail

    The Missouri Valley Millennium Trail is a joint venture between the cities of Bismarck and Mandan, on opposite sides of the Missouri River. On the Bismarck side the trail parallels the east bank of the river between Pioneer Park in the north and Sertoma Park in the south, at the Bismarck Expressway (I194).
    Cross the river at either I-194 or Memorial Highway (I-94) to reach the Mandan side. From I-94 the trail heads south a short way to McKenzie Drive, paralleling Marina Road. From here you can pick up Mandan's Prairie West Trail (on the other side of I-194) and head back across the river over the Bismarck Expressway. Or you can head west toward Prairie West Golf Course or south to Borden Harbor Park.

  • Roughrider Trail

    The 16-mile Roughrider Trail was built for OHVs and snowmobiles along an abandoned rail corridor south of Bismarck. The trail follows the Missouri River and offers scenic views of the bluffs and surrounding landscape.
    The southern end point is at the Fort Rice Campground, which has a picnic area, fire rings, potable water, RV hookups, telephone and restrooms.
