Print Friendly MapThe Bellevue Loop Trail is actually the southern extension of the Keystone Trail, and it is occasionally referred to simply as part of the longer trail. The trail makes a loop around the southern edge of the Omaha suburb of Bellevue, hence its name.
From the Keystone Trail at S. 25th Street, the loop continues south along Little Papillion Creek, paralleling Interstate 75 until it passes under the highway alongside the creek. From here, the Bellevue Loop Trail continues mostly south and east, where views of Offutt Air Force Base—home of the United States Strategic Command—are plentiful. The trail then swings north again near the Missouri River and ends at Haworth Park.
Parking is available off Harlan Lewis Road near the trail's midpoint and at Haworth Park on Payne Drive.
Beautiful tree canopy trail passing through western Iowa farm land and small towns. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy the trail again next year! Should be on everyone’s trail list.
This Trail closed last year following the floods in the spring. It might reopen next year if the levee improvements and trail get completed.
My walk was very relaxing for sure. However, the lack or ways to be able to cross the stream to get to the other side was frustrating. It made me have to walk way further than I had wanted to. On a possitive note, it was a nice getaway from the crazy family I have at home. :)
parts of the trail wet and muddy as the river floods, particularily near the city compost and treatment plant
Yes the plant on the turn is nasty smelling but it's only for about 200 yards depending on the wind. This is a really great trail that doesn't get alot of traffic. Really nice to have such trails so close to Papillion area.
This is a very good quiet ride. We usually start at Hayworth.
"I've been on this trail more than a few times, and you always know when you're on the 'Loop' (aka the 'Poop Loop') because of the foul odor wafting from the fetid water. It's enough to make you gag."
