Lima Rotary Riverwalk Reviews

Lima area gem!

Really enjoyed the variety of scenery as well as different riding types along this trail, overall it was in pretty good condition! Will definitely ride this again!

Nice mixture of scenery

We are both new to this app and some of the trail riding. We both really enjoyed this trail as a nice mixture of scenery and riding types. Trail could use some minor maintenance.

Great Trail

Rode 16 miles of this trail. My only suggestion would be to add more signs so first timers like me don’t get lost.

Very nice path

I have ridden on this trail different times and love it each time. It is all asphalt or concrete which makes bike riding easier..

Accordion

Very nice trail, but needs a little TLC.

I ride this trail frequently. It is a very nice trail, but it needs a little TLC. There are a few areas where tree roots are pushing up the asphalt and there are a couple other areas where holes need repaired. Very enjoyable otherwise.

nice trail

This trail is very nice. There are several starting points depending on how many hills you want to climb. The newest section of the trail which begins on North St and goes east of town is in excellent condition with interesting terrain. However if you want to ride this section the turn off is not well marked. Beginning on the north side of North St (near Lima Senior HS) you will need to ride on a shared sidewalk traveling east. This turns into the path about 1/3 mile just past the water plant. You can also choose to start from the east. Lots of fun.

Wonderful riding experience

Wonderful variety of scenary along the river. Great condition. Some terrain changes to make it a good cardio workout. Highly recommend this route.

New rider

I am a new rider and just love this trail. Very open, safe and clean

Several short rides on my catrike

I had to spend several weeks in Lima summer of 2015. I'd brought my Catrike since I'd heard about this trail. It was very different from my regular rides around Tampa Florida, but was really nice for a being routed through a suburban area. A good share of the street crossings were routed under the street along the river . I managed to stretch my rides out to just over 20 miles by taking in the offshoot trails and circling around at the north and south ends, but with so few straight segments I was very seldom able to get the Catrike up over 15 MPH.

Parts of the trail are nice. Other parts, not so much.

We started at Ottawa Metro Park. The trail at that end is in great condition (except that the loop around the reservoir is not paved, nor even gravel). The bridges are awesome. The underpass at I-75 was closed for road construction. For a few blocks the trail is also a sidewalk in a residential area - watch out for cars and kids on bikes pulling in and out of driveways. The loop around the lovely lake at Schoonover Park is only paved part way around. The other part is coarse gravel. Fine for a mountain bike, but we were riding recumbent trikes. Along the river the trail is nice, however, it smelled of sewage in many places. We turned around when we got to the refinery. On Google Earth it appears that the trail parallels the refinery for about a mile. Overall the section we rode was a great workout - lots of twists and turns, ups and downs. Very few road crossings due to the street underpasses at the bridges. Though there were plenty of expensive looking granite trail markers, none of them indicated mileage, which would have been helpful.

Great Semi-Urban Trail

Started at Ottawa Park off of Ada Rd. and rode to Heritage Park in Shawnee. (We did not ride to Schoonover Park.) Trail condition was excellent. We rode the road tandem and had no trouble negotiating the turns. In town, the trail goes under the cross streets at the river bridges. Very convenient. We also liked the stone trail markers. Food places weren't obvious from the trail. We found a Subway in the plaza at Ft. Amanda Rd & Shawnee Rd (in Shawnee, near Heritage Park).

One of the best

This trail is awesome. If you start in Ottawa Metro and go to Heritage maybe taking in the side parks you can get a great workout and have great scenery. There are hills, turns and straights. I am new at biking and need to work on turns and hill climbing and this trail has it all. You won't be bored. Restrooms at some of the parks and plenty of places to get off the path to go in town. We must do this path 2 to 3 times a week.
